THE HEART · AN INTRODUCTION

Patience & hope

The Quran addresses hardship without pretending it does not exist. It calls believers towards patience, prayer and hope in Allah.

Seek help through patience

Quran 2:153 brings patience and prayer together. This gives a direction for turning to Allah while meeting the challenges of life.

Recognise hardship honestly

Quran 2:155 names fear, hunger and loss as forms of trial. The following verses describe the response of the patient and speak of mercy and guidance for them. Read 2:155–157 together.

Hold on to hope

Quran 94:5–6 places ease alongside hardship. These verses offer reassurance; they should not be turned into a promise of a particular worldly result or a fixed deadline for relief.
