Faith that shapes a life
Quran 2:177 brings belief together with generosity, prayer, zakat, keeping promises and patience. It describes righteousness through both conviction and action.
The five pillars
Sahih al-Bukhari 8 identifies five foundations of Islam: the testimony of faith, prayer, zakat, fasting in Ramadan and Hajj. They connect belief with acts of worship. Quran 2:183 speaks of fasting as a means of developing awareness of Allah; Quran 3:97 links the obligation of pilgrimage to the ability to undertake it.
